When I play roulette I’m not looking for big dollar wins but rather a bunch of smaller wins. If you’re a smart gambler, not a greedy gambler, you can profit playing roulette.
I watch people playing roulette at the casino and am amazed by the silly bets people make. Don’t get me wrong, the prospect of winning 35 times your wager is a powerful motivator but too profit you need to settle down and use your head or throw away money until you get lucky.
Casinos rely on you losing
Don’t be the person who walks up to a table loudly saying “I feel the need, the need for greed!” People seeking short term big profits are a casino’s best friend because the chances are you’re going to lose when the odds are against you.
I feel the need, the need for greed!
Roulette does have better odds than slot machines and other casino games but betting on single numbers is still risky and you have only a 1:37 chance of winning. Having said that, it does happen and people win big, it just doesn’t happen often.
I watched a guy win on a single number bet then let his winnings ride, and it came up again. He then let it ride again on the same number for a third time and it came up. The croupier let out an excited squeal which was heard across the casino, as we all did. That is a true story and I’ll never forget it. His original $10 wager turned into $350 and then morphed into $12,250.
The casino relies on people losing their money, a fact nobody can argue with. You need to allow other people too lose, which keeps the casino happy, while you build your bank slowly a little bit at a time.
Strategy
Step one of your strategy should be nothing more elaborate than making a few dollars! Step two is how do you do that? Here are some popular strategies, check it out later – for now keep reading.
I’ve learnt from experience not to get cocky or greedy. I’ve fallen for that previously and made stupidly large bets and lost. I’m not going to be that guy again! In order to win at roulette you need to increase your own odds, reducing the casinos edge, and the only way of doing that is by covering more numbers. By doing that your odds of winning increase but your financial returns are decreased. When I play at the casino there is a new game every 45 – 60 seconds and I generally win 70% – 80% of the time. For 60 games that equates to 42 wins or more, obviously it varies from time to time.
If you have a larger budget then bet more money. A few thousand dollars starting money and making smart bets can get you $50 per win, or more. My budget is much smaller so I go for smaller wagers.
The more numbers you cover the smaller your returns but you have a better chance of winning. The downside is that a small $5 profit means a $20 or $30 wager and a losing streak hurts. Three losses in a row costs you $60 to $90 and it takes awhile getting back from that.
Even with a good strategy there is risk.
What I do when playing roulette
My plan is to enjoy myself and make a few bucks. With that said, I generally play for no more than 20 – 25 minutes at a time, then walk away for 20 – 25 minutes before returning to the game. I take these breaks if I’m winning or losing.
I tell myself “if I lose all my money it doesn’t matter” because my expectations for the day are that I WILL lose all my money, if I have money when I go home I’m a happy fella. By expecting to lose your not disappointed with losses, yet overjoyed when you still have money at the end of the day.
Ultimately I know my wife is losing 10 times more much on slot machines anyway so that makes me feel better.
Roulette is not a rich mans game
You can play roulette with very little money, if you’re smart. My advice is be happy with many smaller wins rather than waiting for the big one. Let the casino make their money from reckless players and don’t be that person.
In the end you will be the winner.
Happy Roulette Adventures everyone!
