The safest bet in Roulette gives you the best chance of winning, and when you are winning you are making a profit and we play Roulette to make a profit! You must always remember there are no guarantees because Roulette is renowned for being random – unless where you are playing have rigged the game. So what is the safest roulette bet? Determining what is the safe bet isn’t as easy as you think.
The truth is there are many bets which can be considered safe and it all depends on your point of view and how much you are happy with winning.
Be a smart gambler not a greedy one, Never forget there are no safe bets in Roulette.
Defining a Safe Bet in Roulette
Safe bets are bets with the best odds of winning and the highest Return on Investment (ROI).
You can double your money using Outside Bets which because they provide a 48% chance of winning. Outside Bets are Red/Black, Odd/Even, and 1-18/19-36 and all pay 1:1. If you are new to Roulette you might think these bets give you a 50/50 chance of winning but those pesky Green Zeros throw a spanner into the works.
The actual chance of winning is 48.6% for European Roulette and 47.4% playing American Roulette. The difference is that European Roulette (the original game) has a single zero but American Roulette has both a zero & double zero.
If you are silly enough to play a Triple Zero table your chances of winning are reduced even further. Never play Triple Zeros Roulette!
Outside bets are often considered the safest because winning doubles your money – a $10 becomes $20.
The law of averages suggests eventually you will win because it is almost a 50/50 shot. Think of it like flipping a coin, eventually Heads will come up, but how much do you lose along the way!
Don’t forget that Casinos always have an edge, meaning they know eventually you will lose. With the introduction of 00 Roulette, a departure from the original single zero game was all about increasing their house edge and profitability. The same can be said for 000 Roulette!
Now it’s time to consider why other bets might also considered safe too. I’m going to give you a single example, but once you start thinking about it you will discover other safer wagers. Just remember, the more numbers covered the smaller your ROI.
Covering more numbers may be a safe bet
Outside Bets cover nearly half the Roulette Wheel but there are other options too. Choosing almost two thirds gives you almost a 75% chance of winning. By placing money on any two of the Dozens, which pay 2:1, may make you feel more comfortable. These bets are called Column Bets.
The downside is your ROI is reduced! Putting $10 on both the first & second dozen your total outlay will be $20 and your return would be $30. The winning Dozen gives you a $10 profit. Does that make sense? Had you chosen to play a single Dozen bet of $10 you will get a profit of $20 but you have only a 30% chance of winning. That’s why it is called gambling!
You must decide what is a safer bet for you. Is it having a 48% chance of winning with Outside Bets or 65% with Dozens on European Roulette.
At the end of the day it is about how you define safe. You can choose to give yourself an almost 50/50 chance of doubling your money or covering more numbers for a smaller return but a larger outlay.
You can cover even more numbers but as you increase coverage you decrease payouts. If you are happy with very small wins, and that’s OK, but when you lose there is a bigger hit to your bankroll. For example; the 24/10 Strategy might cost you $30 per bet but only return a profit of $5. One loss takes six wins to recover. Once again, that’s gambling!
