November 2023 – Another great adventure

It was my wife’s birthday last week and rather than wanting a birthday present all she ever wants is a trip to Crown Casino in Perth. We generally visit the casino four or five times a year but her birthday trips are always special for her. For the last couple of years we’ve spent the night at the Promenade Hotel, which is right there at the casino making our stagger for a good nights sleep much easier. This years trip turned out to be another great adventure because we had friends along and together we had an awesome time.

She plays slot machines while I play my roulette; this year was different because some great friends from Mandurah came up for the night and we appreciated them taking time off work, during the week, and spending time with us on her birthday.

How I always play before changing my tactics

If you’ve read any of my blogs you’ll know my goal is making money playing roulette. I’m not there to lose, I leave that to my wife with her ridiculous slot machine. You will also be aware my roulette winnings end up in my wife’s hands which she loses on slots. In the end the casino always gets out money!

Roulette profits are made playing strategies, being smart rather than reckless while chasing bigger dollars. I start with a 24/10 strategy which makes only small amounts but am happy to plod along and enjoy my beer.

I’ll also play a two thirds style method by placing $10 bets on two of the available thirds while I build my bank. This costs $20 and returns $30 – a $10 gain with each win. That might not seem like a lot but as my bank increases so my bet increase, $20, $40 and eventually I’m betting $100 on two of the thirds. That costs me $200 but returns $300 with a win. Obviously you’ll wear some losses during your Roulette Adventure.

Because roulette relies heavily on luck many spins produce a loss and I do my best to ride those out. Overall, I end up with double my original balance and start playing riskier bets and this approach has served me well over the past six or seven years.

I played Live Table Roulette for the first time

Roulette-Chips

Previously I’ve only played electronic tables with a croupier on stage spinning the wheel. Once again the croupier wasn’t playing by the rules and Crown Casino seem to not care.

I hadn’t played a live roulette table previously because I was always worried about proper etiquette and didn’t want to make a fool of myself by doing something stupid or wrong. This time we had friends coming up who only play live tables and this gave me an opportunity to try it for myself.

After finding a table with only two other players we stepped up to join. I’m a sociable guy and am happy to chat with complete strangers, so I asked the croupier her name; “Paula”, she said, she turned out to be a real people person and very good at her job. Sadly she wasn’t there for very long and we ended up with a stream of “croupiers just trying to get through the night”. The other players were a couple of great guys and we all had some fun together.

It turns out playing a live table with a bunch of nice folks is a lot of fun, and for that I am very grateful.

Strategy changing this time

It was time to change my strategy and I started doing corner bets, three separate corners allows me to cover 12 numbers. It is more risky but it paid off in the end. Corner bets pay 8:1 and I was only coughing up $15 with a $40 return plus original bet. That’s a profit of $25 per win but a loss of only $15 if I lose. It didn’t take long before I found myself putting a Black Chip valued at $100 in my pocket for later.

I’ve now got a big pile of chips, plus a Black Chip in my pocket. We decided to move on and play Black Jack, another game I’d never played, and it was also great fun.

While playing Black Jack my wife sat down and played roulette for the first time and she absolutely loved it. Perhaps she might stop playing slot machines and concentrate on games with better odds.

Down side of playing live roulette tables

One of the advantages of playing electronic stage roulette is my use of the Crown Casino Rewards Card. I only have a Blue Card but my wife has Silver. Silver players get a much better deal than Blue such as discounts, free undercover parking, access to other areas which have free soft drinks, juice, coffee, etc..

Playing a live table prevents use of member cards, and therefore the building points. In order to maintain Silver Status one must build up points, which is only possible playing electronic devices, buying drinks, food or getting accommodation. Playing live tables does not help us build credit & points and she would eventually drop off the Silver list. That really sucks Crown!

Anyway, I’m done for now. Happy Roulette Adventures Everyone.
