We all want a bullet-proof roulette strategy which costs next to nothing and delivers enormous wins. Don’t be ridiculous! A strategy like that doesn’t exist but I have been trying new things during my recent casino visits and they’ve been paying off. I’d like to call it a medium risk high return roulette strategy, but I don’t want to be so bold just yet.
If you’ve read any of my earlier blogs, you’ll know I’m not a big risk taker. I don’t like losing money, and over the past 14 years, my approach has meant I’ve only walked away with a loss twice.
I’ve always considered straight-up bets the riskiest of all, but on my most recent trip I decided to break from tradition. With a modest budget of just $400 and a desire to be daring I knew there were only two likely outcomes:
- I’d lose it all pretty quickly, or
- I’d win big.
$50 a Game and I Have Eight Bullets at the Table
I’m playing on a $5 table. Each spin costs me $50, so I can afford to lose eight times in a row—which is my worst-case scenario. A straight up bet gets me a 35 to 1 return if luck is with me.
I place a $5 chip on 10 random straight-up numbers. There is no magic, no pattern, no clever system, I just spread out chips randomly across the table.

My first spin was a winner and returned $180. Subtracting my $50 stake, that’s a $130 profit right away. I removed the losing chips and placed another 10, again randomly.
Spin two was also a win, bumping me up another $130. So far, I’m $260 ahead with very little effort.
Spin three was a loss, but spin four hit again for another $180 win. That brings me to a total profit of $310 after just one loss. As a bonus I’ve only been at the table 20 minutes.
Roulette Is Random So Watch Out
While my new semi-strategy might look solid at first glance, the reality is I had a lucky night. Roulette is a game of pure chance and eventually you are going to lose. So far, I haven’t. I managed to walk away with more money than I brought in, and that’s a win in my book.
Choosing 10 random numbers is as solid a method as any other but you are still covering less than a third of the wheel. On European Roulette you are playing 10 out 37 numbers which is just 27% of all possible outcomes. American Roulette reduces your coverage further by giving you 10 out of 38 numbers which equates to 26%.
The bottom line is; playing roulette is never a sure winner, if it was they wouldn’t call it gambling.
In Summary
The first thing to remember is: never gamble money you can’t afford to lose. The money in my pocket when I stride through the casino doors is purely for playtime. If I come home with it, that’s great. If it ends up in the casino’s pockets then that’s okay too.
This strategy (and I use that term very loosely) is really just about spreading your bets across random numbers. You can use special numbers or birthdays if you like, but honestly, it won’t make any difference.
My personal rule of thumb? Every Black Chip I win goes straight into my pocket. I collect the $100 chips and take them home. That way, I’m funding my next casino trip without dipping into my own wallet. In fact, I’ve had three visits to the casino recently, and haven’t spent a single dollar of my own money. The other advantage of taking home chips is my wife doesn’t take my roulette profits and lose it all on slot machines 🙂
