Crown Casino Roulette Tables

If like me you walk around Crown Casino aimlessly you may be oblivious to the difference in some of the roulette tables. I noticed the different colours long ago but figured it was purely decorative or related to the minimum bet, but it’s not! Crown Casino roulette tables are either blue or green and the difference is more than one being $5 the other $10 minimums.

After missing the subtle difference for years, it didn’t hit me until recently (June 2023). Blue tables are double zero while green are single zero – how did I miss that previously! One is European, the other American roulette and the cheaper minimum wager is designed in an effort to draw you to the double-zero game; sneaky huh!

Green tables are European Roulette – $10 Minimum

European Roulette is the only game I will and avoid American Roulette like the plague as they give casinos better odds, which obviously means your own are reduced.

Roulette was invented with 37 numbers from 0 – 36 giving you a 1/37 chance of winning on a straight-up wager but the Americans had to screw with it and add an extra zero. That gives you a 1/38 chance of winning, and I know it isn’t an enormous advantage but we need to give ourselves every chance.

With a $10 minimum bet unsuspecting gamblers might walk past it and play on the $5 table which has 0 and 00.

If you are new to roulette or not paying attention, as I didn’t for years, you may fall for their cunning trick.

The house already has a good chance of winning based on the Law of Large Numbers which dictates that overtime the house will win and somehow they will transfer your money into their pockets.

Blue Tables are American Roulette – $5 Minimum

There are more blue tables than green and the blue ones are double zero games. The Americans added the extra zero to increase the house edge, meaning you have a higher chance of losing.

Payouts for both 0 & 00 tables are exactly the same.

$2.50 Tables at Crown Casino, Perth

There are at least three tables with minimum bets of $2.50 but they are not always available and are generally full of players.

During my last visit to Crown, January 2024, I noticed there were two tables with $2.50 minimum bets available, however, a few hours later they had been changed to $10 tables.

Outside Bets are twice the Minimum

When placing Outside Bets at any of the Crown Casino tables the minimum amount is twice the table minimum. If you are playing a $5 table, your minimum bet will be $10, on a $10 table it is $20.

This only applies to Outside Bets which pay 1:1. That is Red/Black, Odd/Even, or 1-18/19-36.

Other casino roulette tables

Because Crown is the only casino in Western Australia I cannot compare table colours with other casinos. They may use similar tactics in other casinos in Australia and around the world, but I am not sure.

While I have visited dozens of casinos in Las Vegas I didn’t pay any attention to their roulette tables. I don’t even know if they have European roulette in the US.

Either way, always check the table you are planning to playing on.

You will eventually lose at roulette so gamble responsibly.
